This year Laguna Development Corporation was out in full force during the feast activities, starting with preparations for the 30th Annual Pueblo of Laguna Fiesta Parade on September 18th. Every year the Pueblo of Laguna develops a theme for the parade. This years’ theme was “Celebrating our Children,” embracing children’s love of fun, culture, self-expression, happiness, adventure and love of family. Following tradition, the Route 66 Marketing team was responsible for building the LDC float. The parade theme lent itself to a natural association with LDC’s Laguna Sports Academy, a sports development program for the youth of Laguna created by LDC. In conjunction with Kyle James, Health and Wellness Coordinator for LDC and lead organizer of the Laguna Sports Academy, LSA athletes were invited to ride along on the float and throw candy to the crowd. The Marketing team including Box Office Supervisor Emma Mansfield, Entertainment Manager Helmut Perzi, Hotel Sales Manager Janis DeLaney, Promotions Supervisor Jeremy Tafoya, Players Club Manager Carol Fabianski and Advertising and PR Manager Maria Lamar; arrived at 6:30 AM to decorate the float with colorful balloons and a banner announcing Laguna Sports Academy. Jeremy Tafoya, Promotions Supervisor for Route 66, also emceed the parade announcing each float as it passed by.

The following day, both LDC and the Laguna Sports Academy had booths at the feast. The LDC booth was run by the Human Resources Department and the Marketing Department and was staffed by HR Assistant Gilbert Carrasco , Benefits Coordinator Tammy Trancosa and Advertising and PR Manager Maria Lamar. The LDC team met with over 200 feast goers, who shared what they liked most about either Route 66 or Dancing Eagle Casino in exchange for Route 66/Lobo items. In addition to hearing the voices of the community, there were hundreds of applications and job listings that were handed out at the Feast.

The Dancing Eagle Marketing Team also assisted with the Feast at the Laguna Sports Academy booth. The booth featured a basketball hoop where community members could donate money to shoot a basket. The LSA team members sold beverages to feast goers as they passed by. The funds raised at the Feast go towards tournament fees and the continuation of high-caliber coaching, camps and activities for the youth of Laguna.

Participants included Don Billbrough, Amber Wade, Anissa Jose, Camille Riley, Carlos Duran, Nathan Lucero, Katherine Lucario, Joanne David, Louis Abeita, Tina Vandever and Ramona Bautista.

While LDC employees work every day in support of the Pueblo of Laguna, this years’ Feast day contributions by LDC employees shows an even greater level of commitment in support of Laguna. Thank you to all the employees who contributed to making the 30th Annual Feast Day Parade and Celebration a huge success.
