LDC has proudly supported New Mexico State University (NMSU) Aggies athletics and academics for the past 10 years. Recently, LDC awarded one lucky Aggie football fan $10,000 and awarded the Floyd Correa Endowed Scholarship to a Laguna NMSU student.

In October 2018, the Floyd Correa Endowed Scholarship Award was presented at an annual luncheon and an NMSU home football game. This scholarship honors the late Floyd Correa, who was the youngest governor in the tribe’s history when he was elected at the age of 30. LDC created this scholarship to honor Floyd Correa after he passed away in 2012 at age 68.

Correa served in several capacities for the tribal community which included a two-term Governor of the Pueblo of Laguna and the LDC Chairman of the Board of Directors for more than 10 years. As a well-respected business leader in both the Pueblo and the Albuquerque community, Correa was an instrumental mentor in developing future business leaders within the tribal community.

This year’s scholarship went to Lorenza Kasero of Laguna who is currently attending NMSU. Margaret Correa, Floyd Correa’s widow, along with their son Mario presented the award to Lorenza. This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate and/or graduate tribal student pursuing a degree at NMSU. LDC continues to honor Floyd Correa’s legacy by supporting the education of the next generation of business leaders.

Last month, at an Aggies football game one lucky Aggies fan won $10,000 in the Route 66 Get Your Kicks promotion! LDC sponsors the Route 66 Get Your Kicks promotion in which one lucky season ticket holder has the opportunity to win the prize money if the Aggies run the opening kick-off back for a touchdown, this has not happen since 2012.

Las Cruces radio station 99.5 Zia Country reached out to the winner on the morning show to announce the prize. The diehard Aggie fan Dee Golt who has been a season ticket holder since 2010 was ecstatic on the win. LDC presented Dee with a ceremonial giant check at an Aggies basketball game on December 1st.

LDC is proud to be a sponsor of Aggies athletics and help bridge the connection between sports and academics.
