On January 6, 2013 the New Mexico Boxing Annual Poll named Route 66 Casino Hotel’s Legends Theater the top venue for 2012. The Route 66 fight card “Fire & Ice” also received top honors as the best fight card in 2012. The 10-round main event featured the three division world champion Holly “The Preacher’s Daughter” Holm and WIBA super featherweight champion Diana Prazak. Holly dominated the fight capturing a unanimous decision by scores of 100-90 on all three judges’ cards. The semi-main event in the Fire & Ice card took second place for the “Fight of the Year,” featuring the much anticipated rematch between Tony Valdez and Raymond “Hollewood” Montes. Tony Valdez was recognized as the “Comeback of the Year,” and the runner-up for New Mexico, “Fighter of the Year.” Returning after a seven-year retirement he give the locals the top two fights of the year, knocking out Montes, in the rematch, after seven rounds. The knockout ended Montes’ career forcing him to retire from the ring due to a severe head injury. Route 66 brought boxing back to Legends Theater with “Deuces Wild” on December 3rd, 2010. Throughout the two year partnership with Fresquez Productions, Route 66 has brought some of the best match-ups in boxing and MMA to New Mexico and the polls agree.
