Adopted Elder, Helen Herrera, thanks Santa and
Mrs. Claus for her holiday gifts
Laguna Development Corporation held its annual Adopt-an-Elder and Sponsor-A-Child Event on Thursday, December 13th. The sponsored elders, along with the families of the children adopted, were very thankful. They wanted to extend their appreciation to all the employees of LDC and for all that was given to them. This year the employees of LDC collectively raised $11,235 for the program, providing toys, clothing and a holiday dinner for 31 children and 60 elders. There were approximately 200 guests in attendance this year including all 31 children that were sponsored. LDC President and CEO, Jerry Smith welcomed guests with a heartfelt speech acknowledging that this event would not at all be possible if it weren’t for the generous employees of LDC. He mentioned that even with the economy being in such a state of flux, our employees managed to contribute graciously out of their pockets. Margaret Mascarenas, Director of The Division of Early Childhood, was also very thankful on behalf of the staff and families of the children that were sponsored.
