Board of Directors

Floyd Correa, Chairman of the Board
Mr. Correa is a member of the Pueblo of Laguna and previously served as its Governor in 1978 and 1979. Although Mr. Correa is semi retired, he continues to serve as Vice President of ASRC Communications (ASRCC) a high technology professional services company with offices in New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Maryland, New Jersey, Missouri, the District of Columbia, and Alaska. In addition to working in the Senior Executive Service in the U.S. Department of Energy from 1972-1981, Mr. Correa has been honored with many awards and has served his community on many boards and commissions, including the Federal Reserve Bank of Denver, the New Mexico State Board of Finance, and the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Correa has served more than one three-year term on the LDC Board of Directors. Mr. Correa holds a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of New Mexico.

Debra Haaland, Board Member
Debra Haaland, an enrolled member of Laguna Pueblo, graduated from UNM with an English degree in 1994. She received her J.D. from UNM School of Law in 2006 and is a 2007 graduate of the Emerge NM Political Leadership Training Program. While in law school, Debra was instrumental in passing SB 482, which gave in-state college tuition to enrolled members of New Mexico tribes regardless of their residency. Debra is extremely active in her Pueblo of Laguna on political, educational, and community issues, including having served on the Laguna Election Board for the course of two election cycles. In 2008 Debra ran for and won a delegate seat to the Democratic National Convention in Denver. She is currently a free-lance writer, and serves as Vice President and administrator for J.D. Haaland Construction, Inc., an Indian-owned small corporation that builds custom homes on the central coast California, and contracts for projects with various Tribally Designated Housing Authorities.

Ron Solimon, Board Member
Mr. Solimon is a member of the Pueblo of Laguna. He is the President and CEO of the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, a major New Mexico tourism attraction and a state-chartered non-profit corporation owned by the 19 Pueblo governments of New Mexico. Mr. Solimon also heads up Indian Pueblos Marketing which is a federally chartered corporation and is the business entity of the Cultural Center. Mr. Solimon also serves on the boards of the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development, the New Mexico Workforce Development Board, the New Mexico Commission on Community Volunteerism, the Tourism Association of New Mexico, the Albuquerque Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Albuquerque Tricentennial Executive Committee, and the State Fair Task Force. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from New Mexico State University, and a J.D. from the University of New Mexico.

John Black, Board Member
He is a partner in West Wood Realty, an independent commercial real estate brokerage and development company founded by Mr. Black's grandfather in 1929. Mr. Black and his family, along with other business partners and associates, have successfully developed and sold real estate on the west side of Albuquerque for several years, including such properties as the Seven Bar Ranch Planned Community whose center piece is the Cottonwood Mall. Mr. Black recently worked on a major west side development known as Quail Ranch.

Jerry Smith, President
Mr. Jerald "Jerry" D. Smith is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Laguna Development Corporation (LDC) of Albuquerque, New Mexico. LDC is a wholly-owned Section 17 (U.S.C. 477) corporation of the Pueblo of Laguna.

Mr. Smith has more than twenty-five years of executive and economic development experience with expertise in Native American business and community improvement. He has developed and managed for-profit tribal operations, tribal administrative operations and facilitated advancement of housing opportunities for tribal communities through federal, state and tribal programs. As the President and CEO of LDC, Mr. Smith has helped foster an aggressive growth path for the company currently managing all gaming and retail businesses for the corporation. Presently LDC consists of three casino locations including Route 66 Casino Hotel, Dancing Eagle Casino and Casino Express. The company operates two major travel centers/truck stops along Interstate 40 with locations in Casa Blanca and Rio Puerco, New Mexico. LDC also manages Dancing Eagle Supermarket, Dancing Eagle RV Park and two convenience stores in the Pueblo of Laguna. Mr. Smith holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from New Mexico State University. He serves on a number of boards and commissions including the Cibola County School District Board of Education. He is a member of the Pueblo of Laguna and has served three terms on the Laguna Tribal Council.

Kevin Greer, Treasurer
Mr. Greer became Chief Financial Officer of the Business Operations in 2004. Mr. Greer has over 20 years of accounting and finance experience in the hospitality industry. Prior to his tenure at the Casino, Mr. Greer was Senior Director of Finance at the Belterra Casino Resort in Florence, Indiana. Mr. Greer also served as Chief Financial Officer for ten years at the Cypress Bayou Casino in Charenton, Louisiana, a tribal casino. Mr. Greer holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio.

Katherine Gorospe, Secretary
Ms. Gorospe serves as Legal Counsel and Government Relations Director for LDC and is a member of the Pueblo of Laguna. Ms. Gorospe has been practicing law for over 15 years with previous employment at the Nordhaus Law Firm in Washington, D.C. and as Director of the American Indian Environmental Office with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Ms Gorospe is a member of the New Mexico Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association and the Board of Directors of the New Mexico Indian Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Gorospe holds a B.S. in American Studies from Oregon State University and a J.D. from Williamette University College of Law.
