Floyd Correa, Chairman of the Board
Mr. Correa is a member of the Pueblo of Laguna and previously served as its Governor in 1978 and 1979. Although Mr. Correa is semi retired, he continues to serve as Vice President of ASRC Communications (ASRCC) a high technology professional services company with offices in New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Maryland, New Jersey, Missouri, the District of Columbia, and Alaska. In addition to working in the Senior Executive Service in the U.S. Department of Energy from 1972-1981, Mr. Correa has been honored with many awards and has served his community on many boards and commissions, including the Federal Reserve Bank of Denver, the New Mexico State Board of Finance, and the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Correa has served more than one three-year term on the LDC Board of Directors. Mr. Correa holds a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of New Mexico.
Margaret Cerno, Vice-Chairperson of the Board
Ms. Cerno is a member of the Pueblo of Laguna. She retired from federal service in 2003. Before retirement, Ms. Cerno was the Small Business Program Manager for the U.S. Department of Energy, where she acted as an advocate for small, women-owned, and minority businesses seeking federal contracts. Prior to that, Ms. Cerno was a Contracting Officer responsible for multi-million dollar acquisitions involving support of major environmental clean-up projects in New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Colorado. She also administered Federal cooperative agreements with: pueblos close to the Los Alamos National Laboratory on water issues; the Santa Fe Indian School; and the Hopi and Navajo Tribes. Ms. Cerno has served as a member of the LDC Board of Directors since 2003 and previously served on the boards of the Pueblo's Laguna Commercial Enterprise and Laguna Rainbow Center. Ms. Cerno received a B.A. in Economics from Colorado College.
Ken Mimmack, Board Member
Mr. Mimmack is President and CEO of Ingenus Management and Consulting which specializes in business and economic development, strategic planning, gaming management and consulting services, and project development and financing. Formerly Mr. Mimmack served as President, CEO, Chairman of the Board, and Commission of Corporate Affairs for the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe.' He also served as the Chief Financial Officer of the Grand Casino Mille Lacs and worked for Deloitte, Haskins and Sells and A-TEK, Inc. Among the many awards received by Mr. Mimmack are the Harvard University Award for significant success in furthering Indian Economic Development and Self-Governance, and the Tribal Leader of the Year awarded by the Minnesota Indian Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Mimmack has a B.A. in Mathematics from Colorado College, and a Master of Accountancy from the University of Denver.
Ron Solimon, Board Member
Mr. Solimon is a member of the Pueblo of Laguna. He is the President and CEO of the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, a major New Mexico tourism attraction and a state-chartered non-profit corporation owned by the 19 Pueblo governments of New Mexico. Mr. Solimon also heads up Indian Pueblos Marketing which is a federally chartered corporation and is the business entity of the Cultural Center. Mr. Solimon also serves on the boards of the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development, the New Mexico Workforce Development Board, the New Mexico Commission on Community Volunteerism, the Tourism Association of New Mexico, the Albuquerque Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Albuquerque Tricentennial Executive Committee, and the State Fair Task Force. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from New Mexico State University, and a J.D. from the University of New Mexico.
John Black, Board Member
Mr. Black is the newest member of the LDC Board of Directors. He is a partner in West Wood Realty, an independent commercial real estate brokerage and development company founded by Mr. Black's grandfather in 1929. Mr. Black and his family, along with other business partners and associates, have successfully developed and sold real estate on the west side of Albuquerque for several years, including such properties as the Seven Bar Ranch Planned Community whose center piece is the Cottonwood Mall. Mr. Black recently worked on a major west side development known as Quail Ranch.
Officers
Jerry Smith, President
Mr. Smith serves as President of LDC and is a member of the Pueblo of Laguna. Mr. Smith has over twenty-five years of executive management and economic development expertise with significant experience in Native American business and community development. Mr. Smith developed and managed tribal for-profit business operations, tribal administrative operations, and facilitated development of housing opportunities for tribal communities through Federal/State/Tribal housing initiatives. In the 1990s, Mr. Smith and other Pueblo members studied the growth of Indian gaming in New Mexico and began to develop plans for the Pueblo's expansion into the market and created a federally chartered corporation to operate all of its commercial businesses. Mr. Smith earned a B.B.A. in management from New Mexico State University. He is a member of the Dallas Regional Home Loan Bank Advisory Board, serves on various inter-tribal associations, and is a member of the New Mexico Economic Development Commission.
Kevin Greer, Treasurer
Mr. Greer became Chief Financial Officer of the Business Operations in 2004. Mr. Greer has over 20 years of accounting and finance experience in the hospitality industry. Prior to his tenure at the Casino, Mr. Greer was Senior Director of Finance at the Belterra Casino Resort in Florence, Indiana. Mr. Greer also served as Chief Financial Officer for ten years at the Cypress Bayou Casino in Charenton, Louisiana, a tribal casino. Mr. Greer holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio.
Katherine Gorospe, Secretary
Ms. Gorospe serves as Legal Counsel and Government Relations Director for LDC and is a member of the Pueblo of Laguna. Ms. Gorospe has been practicing law for over 15 years with previous employment at the Nordhaus Law Firm in Washington, D.C. and as Director of the American Indian Environmental Office with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Ms Gorospe is a member of the New Mexico Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association and the Board of Directors of the New Mexico Indian Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Gorospe holds a B.S. in American Studies from Oregon State University and a J.D. from Williamette University College of Law.
